Jon Baily turns each bowl by hand in his Cambridgeshire workshop, creating a functional piece that highlights the unique beauty found within the timber.
Apple wood offers a remarkable range of colour, and this bowl displays an especially attractive contrast between warm golden tones and deep reddish-brown heartwood. The flowing grain patterns move naturally around the bowl, creating a distinctive appearance that ensures no two pieces are ever alike.
Measuring 15cm in diameter and 5.5cm high, the bowl is perfectly sized for breakfast cereals, porridge, fruit, yoghurt, desserts or snacks. Its gently curved profile makes it comfortable to use while providing ample capacity for everyday dining.
Jon finishes the bowl with pure tung oil, a natural polymerising oil that enriches the colour of the timber and brings out the depth of the grain.
