Our courses are designed for anyone interested in learning about the unique properties of greenwood and how to use it to create beautiful and functional objects. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced woodworker, our courses offer a hands-on experience that will deepen your knowledge and appreciation for this ancient craft.

Bowl Turning Taster Sessions
Experience the Art of Bowl Turning in a Fun and Friendly Environment
Are you curious about bowl turning but not sure if it’s the right hobby for you? My bowl-turning taster sessions perfectly introduce this ancient craft using traditional techniques and have proven to be one of the more popular greenwood courses I run.
During each taster session, I invite up to five people to join me for an introduction to bowl turning. You will have the opportunity to work on a communal bowl using greenwood on a traditional pole-lathe. At the end of the day, all participants’ names are put into the bowl, and one name is drawn out. The winner takes the bowl home as a memento of their experience.
This taster session is ideal for those new to bowl turning. As pole-lathe turning can be quite physical, it offers a fun and friendly environment where you can learn the basics of bowl turning and decide if it’s a hobby that interests you.
