Immerse yourself in the timeless craft of broom making in the beautiful surroundings of Wandlebury Country Park. Set within the rolling Gog Magog Hills, this 4-hour hands-on workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn a traditional skill while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of this historic landscape.
What will you make?
You’ll create 2 to 3 hand brooms, perfect for both practical use and as decorative pieces. Choose from a selection of natural materials:
- Arenga – Durable and stiff, ideal for tougher cleaning tasks.
- Broom Corn – Flexible and strong, great for multi-purpose use.
- Tampico – Soft and gentle, perfect for delicate surfaces.
Throughout the session, you’ll learn about the history and techniques of broom making, using simple tools to craft brooms that will last for years. All materials and tools are provided.
Explore the Park
Attending a workshop at Wandlebury Country Park means you’ll also experience its stunning woodlands, wildflower meadows, and historic Iron Age Hillfort. Take time before or after the course to explore the scenic walking trails, relax in the tranquil surroundings, or enjoy refreshments at a pop-up café (available Thursday to Sunday and during most school holidays).
