Broom Making Workshop at the David Parr House

Step into the timeless tradition of broom making in this engaging and hands-on 4-hour workshop. Learn to craft beautiful, functional brooms that are as practical as they are decorative. Whether for sweeping floors, tending to a workshop, or adorning your home with a touch of handmade charm, these brooms bring a sense of mindfulness and connection to your everyday spaces.

During the workshop, you’ll create 2 to 3 versatile hand brooms, depending on time. Choose from a selection of high-quality materials:

  • Arenga: Durable and stiff, perfect for tougher cleaning tasks.

  • Broom Corn: Flexible and strong, ideal for multi-purpose use.

  • Tampico: Soft and gentle, suitable for delicate surfaces.

We’ll guide you through the techniques and traditions of broom making, providing tools and materials for your creations. Additional supplies will be available for purchase if you wish to continue your craft at home.

This course is perfect for beginners and seasoned crafters alike. Rediscover the joy of creating something meaningful with your own hands and leave with brooms that are both useful and beautiful. All you need to bring is your curiosity and enthusiasm!
